I really hate this coney. How on Earth would anyone HATE ANY coney? But it is pretty easy with this place. What really sucks is that this is the closest coney to my home, why can't it be awesome?? Really huge place, rest assured your table will be sticky, your food will be mediocre at best, your service might be decent if you are lucky and it is actually pretty expensive. So many better options within a 1/2 mile radius. This place really sucks.

Dirty dirty dirty.. We were one of two tables at 7 pm, half te tables in the place were covered in dirty dishes, 4 waitresses were sitting in a corner booth. Bathrooms were really disgusting, dirty tile, sinks, urinals, toilets. The waitress rolled her eyes at me when I asked to place a carry out when we wen to leave, won't return, when a place is this bad it's usually bad management.

WORST Coney I've been to in 30 years. Food was greasy, cold and barley editable. Service was almost worse and the place only had a few tables occupied. Do NOT go here.

I can't say much about this particular Leo's, I only stopped in for carry out. A good though limited experience, and I would go back again if I was looking for a Coney Island in the area.

The food is pretty good, but the service here is awful more often than not...on our last visit to pick up our to-go order, the guy behind the counter was too busy socializing with his visiting friends to bother acknowledging us standing RIGHT THERE. The bad attitude from the Kroger next door must be contagious.

Go here when it's not busy, or packed, or a weekend night. I like this place and their food and service, but good luck being satisfied or taken care of on a Saturday night when bars are closing. The annoying drunks ordering saganaki just so the whole place can go Opa! really makes you want to get out asap.

There's probably a coney island on every corner in Metro-Detroit. Like Leo's, they all offer a wide variety of fast, affordable American fare. While sticking to the traditional favorites: the gyro, the coney dog, coney fries, Greek salad, etc. This coney is no different. Its large dining room is great for families who are entertaining relatives or friends and are looking for somewhere fast and cheap to go to breakfast. It is also very kid friendly and perfect for a snack after soccer practice or a violin lesson. The young waitresses are not pros but they get the job done. I enjoy the fresh Greek salad and the yummy coney fries. Come to Leo's where you get a lot for your money!

Watery soup (chicken noodle). Who woulda thought one could ruin chicken noodle soup? Husband had navy bean - same thing...watery. Wait staff not very attentive either. Just don't bother - it's a waste of time and money going here. Do yourself a favor and go to the McDonald's just a few blocks away instead. Yeah I said it - GO TO MCDONALD'S OVER THIS place.

If you want a good laugh, this is the place. But you have to go around 3 a.m. when the bar crowd is stumbling in. On a serious note, I have to hand it to the servers at this place. They do a good job handling all of the orders and they make sure the food is served fresh. Get the village salad!

I really don't even know where to start. The service was nice enough... but how can you allow someone to order something off the menu when half the ingredients are missing and not tell them. When I mentioned to the waitress that my Cobb salad was missing bleu cheese, avocado and bacon she just said "hmmm it should of had bacon but we don't have any bleu cheese or avocado". My daughters meeting was equally bad, although it was served complete as it was listed on the menu. I do realize this is a diner and my expectations were set accordingly. I'll be sticking with Nello's.

I love Leo's BUT Not this location! Staff could careless if customers were kept waiting to order while they chatted amongst themselves. When we inquired if anyone was working they all just stood there looking at each other . The place was empty there was no reason for poor service. We got up and went to Mr. Kabob. it's a shame because Leo's has the best Greek salad but it is not worth the lack of staff attentiveness.

I have pretty low expectations as far as Coney Islands and diners go--but this place is below those expectations. The food is consistent with other Leo's--but the service here is overall horrible. There was one poor nice seeming waiter who was the only one working hard. The other staff neglected customers caring more about chatting with each other. My greeting when I sat down to eat by myself, "Are you eating?" No "hi" or even "how can I help you?" I said "what?" to her--that "yes I was eating...why?" She said "Oh I was just making sure you weren't just going to sit there for carry out." It was just bizarre. Not welcoming at all. Anyway, I'm considering writing management to let them know how bad this place is.

Thank you Henry! We like Leo's because it's close to home and we get our food quickly, which is always a bonus when you have three small children! The food is pretty good, but the cleanliness is a little hit-or-miss. If you order carry-out, make sure you check it before you leave, they have a tendency to screw small things up (wrong salad dressing, missing side of fries, things like that). Other than that, they are friendly and quick!

Cool place to come for some cheap food and people watching. I dropped in here for a quick bit and some hot coffee. I was sick and couldn't eat much but I had the chicken and rice soup. It was ok, salty and hot, but it did the trick of fulfilling the magical chicken soup must have remedy for colds. Seems like a great place to come late at night after your finished partying because have plenty of low back booths. So you could definitely scope the crowd out, and hey maybe strike up a conversation while your at it.

I have tried out a few menu items over time, and I've learned to stick with what works: omelettes, Greek salads, and avgolemono. Oh and the occasional chicken gyro with fries, when I can't make it down to Senate in Dearborn for that questionable but delicious shaved-meat gyro. This coney island is decent, and I don't mind coming here if Toast or OPH are too busy. My favorite omelette here is the Greek spinach and feta cheese - tomatoes, spinach, onions and feta. Served up with some greasy-fake buttery hash browns that still manage to make me happy, and the requisite wheat toast. It's GREAT hangover food. The Greek dressing here is better than at other coney islands, too (National is yucky and dirty-dirty, yuck), and I love the toppings on their Greek salad - chickpeas, beets, decent feta, tomatoes. The Greek rice with tomato sauce is also tasty, but I agree that the rest of the other Greek offerings lack a bit in taste and quality. I can only hate because the smoking section isn't at all separate from the good section, and the occasional teenage waitress throws back a little attitude.

Leo's is like a second-rate Plaka's. They do the normal Coney Island affair (hot dogs, loose burgers, normal diner food and breakfasts), which is fine by me - no complaints there. I will say that the breakfasts are pretty tasty, though I would suggest staying away from the rubber pancakes. Everything else breakfast-wise is good. The Greek side of the menu is poor. The saganaki is pretty bland, and honestly I got a pretty poor helping of cheese. I'm used to a PILE! Though other people swear this is an isolated incident, I can't help but think it wasn't. I call it a second-rate Plaka's simply because it's in Royal Oak; how can it really hold up to a place in Greektown!? I go to Leo's when I'm too tired or hungry to drive a mile up Main street to National. Though National doesn't do Greek (unless you count the Greek salad...), I'm pleased enough with their menu because I know what it'll taste like. Leo's it seems like I'm always guessing, and always saying "well, what do I expect? I should've went to ____." Don't expect anything exceptional here, though there's worse places to have a dinner for sure.

Dropped in on a weeknight about 11pm.... Ordered an egg salad wrap..unfortunately it was bland and had shell pieces in it. The stuffed jalapenos were good, I love the cream cheese filled ones. My boyfriend ordered chili cheese fries = bland...and some wrap I don't even remember, I just know he didn't care for it. I did see at some other tables, there was some cool dish where the waiter lit the dish on fire, waited until the flames went out then served it....I think it was some cheese dish? Not sure... Cool for being open 24/7. It was pretty clean. Young crowd...most likely of the time I went. Service was good. This was my first Coney Island in MI....I have yet to try Lafeyette in Detroit since this location is most recommended. Crossing fingers!!

I tend to have my loyalties to the Leo's on Telegraph due to the close proximity of my house... but who's loyal these days anyway? This one is open 24 hours, and apparently when I am a lil tipsy I crave salad at 3am. you are the icing to my cake.

"Opa!" yup, gotta love the flaming cheese! This place has excellent food and is damn cheap. They also specialize in Greek cuisine (and make it quite tasty too). Open 24/7, quick friendly service, breakfast served all day too. Highly recommended!

I try not to go to this Leo's. They give you MINIMAL Chicken and Feta on the greek salads. No matter what size you get, you get the same amount of feta and chicken. Learn how to give good portions and maybe you guys will have more people come in. If you go to the other Leos and order a large greek they put almost two slabs of chicken. This place barely gives you one.

Leos is awesome, eat there cause its cool, chili cheese fries rule

Staff did a fine job. Food - Lemon soap was hot and good. The coney dog was warm and chile was half warm, not the way a Coney dog should be. Don't believe things come off the grill.

Terrible service and the food is even worse, don't waste your time. There are far better coney islands a just a couple mins drive in any directions.

Not sure...

(2)Chris H.
Go here when it's not busy, or packed, or a weekend night. I like this place and their food and service, but good luck being satisfied or taken care of on a Saturday night when bars are closing. The annoying drunks ordering saganaki just so the whole place can go Opa! really makes you want to get out asap.

Since moving part time to FLL it's always the first stop- chili real chili and it's soooo good! You don't realize until you move how good something is until you miss it!!!

If you want a good laugh, this is the place. But you have to go around 3 a.m. when the bar crowd is stumbling in. On a serious note, I have to hand it to the servers at this place. They do a good job handling all of the orders and they make sure the food is served fresh. Get the village salad!

Good breakfast here. It's by the hospital so its convenient for me to stop in. Go early for the specials but it's good breakfast all day which is nice. It's pretty standard as far as coney islands go. The service is decent not phenomenal or anything but you'll get your food to you while it's still hot.
